2022 Iowa Primary Election Story (Senate)

A head to head comparison of the 2022 Iowa Primary gives us an idea of the break down of the voters.

Chuck Grassley received 40.75% (143.69k votes) beating both Michael Franken who had 24.54% (86.52k votes) and Abby Finkenauer who had 17.85% (62945 votes) in the overall count of votes in Iowa if the election were among these 3 candidates.

Chuck Grassley wins 93 counties out of the counties in the state of Iowa to support his claims of his movement in the country. Michael Franken won 6 counties and Joe Biden won just 2 counties in the state of Iowa.

These 10 counties play an important role in these primary elections. If a candidate, can get a sizable majority, it becomes very difficult to win majorities in the smaller counties with out voter out reach and increased voter participation in them.

In a head to head match up on just the total number of votes, Michael Franken (57.9%) beats Abby Finkenauer (42.1%). Chuck Grassley (69.5%) beats Abby Finkenauer (30.5%) and Chuck Grassley (62.4%) beats Michael Franken (37.6%).

Chuck Grassley simply won the majority of the top 10 counties. Michael Franken and Abby Finkenauer could not achieve a victory since Chuck Grassley captures so many voters across most counties.
