2022 Pennsylvania Primary Election Story (Governor)

A head to head comparison of the 2022 Pennsylvania Primary gives us an idea of the break down of the voters.

Josh Shapiro received 48.1% (1.23M votes) beating both Doug Mastriano who had 23.19% (591.16k votes) and Lou Barletta who had 10.72% (273199 votes) in the overall count of votes in Pennsylvania if the election were among these 3 candidates.

Doug Mastriano wins 35 counties out of the counties in the state of Pennsylvania to support his claims of his movement in the country. Josh Shapiro won 26 counties and Joe Biden won just 2 counties in the state of Pennsylvania.

These 10 counties play an important role in these primary elections. If a candidate, can get a sizable majority, it becomes very difficult to win majorities in the smaller counties with out voter out reach and increased voter participation in them.

In a head to head match up on just the total number of votes, Doug Mastriano (68.4%) beats Lou Barletta (31.6%). Josh Shapiro (81.8%) beats Lou Barletta (18.2%) and Josh Shapiro (67.5%) beats Doug Mastriano (32.5%).

Josh Shapiro simply won the majority of the top 10 counties. Doug Mastriano and Lou Barletta could not achieve a victory since Josh Shapiro captures so many voters across most counties.
