2016 Michigan Primary Story

A head to head comparison of the 2016 Primary gives us an idea of the break down of the voters.

Senator Bernie Sanders (24%) beat Hillary Clinton by 1%  by a 18,427 votes. Bernie Sanders beat Donald Trump by 5% in the overall count of votes in Michigan. Sanders recorded wins over Cruz, Kasich, Rubio, Carson and Bush.

In a 4-way match up in the Primary, Donald Trump wins 49 out of the 83  counties in the state of Michigan to support his claims of his movement in the country. This is a massive majority of the counties, almost twice as much as what Bernie Sanders won. Bernie Sanders won 24 counties. Ted Cruz beat Clinton by winning 6 counties as opposed the Clinton's win over only 4 counties.

Hillary Clinton won only 4 counties, however these were, among the most densely populated of the state which was not enough to beat Bernie Sanders in the Michigan primary. Hillary Clinton beat both Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in the largest 3 counties (Wayne, Oakland, Genesee) in Michigan.  In Wayne county, which has a huge Black population, gave her a 60K  votes advantage to almost overcome the lead Bernie won in 24 counties where he won.  

In a head to head match up between these 3 candidates on the basis of their popularity, message and personality, the above graphs speaks of the response by Michigan Voters. This comparison is based on just bringing people to the voting booth on election day!

Bernie Sanders beats both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Sanders beats Clinton by a 2% and Donald Trump by 10%. Clinton beats Trump by 8%.
