Hillary Clinton received 1,002,106 (50%) votes beating Donald Trump who gained 782,403 (39%) by  219,703 votes in Oregon.

Donald Trump won 28 counties whereas Hillary Clinton won 8 counties in the total of the 36 counties in the state of Oregon.

If a candidate, can get a sizable majority in bigger counties (Like Hillary Clinton in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Lane), it becomes very difficult to win majorities in the smaller counties without voter outreach and increased voter participation in them.

Multnomah, Washington and Lane which are the biggest counties voted in favor of Hillary Clinton giving her a  304,893 vote advantage out of that county. Other counties such as Clackamas gave her additional minimal vote advantage. Trump’s win over Marion, Jackson, Deschutes, Douglas, Linn, Josephine, Yamhill, Polk and Coos gave him a vote advantage of 81,208, nothing compared to Clinton’s win margins. This made Hillary Clinton gain an upper hand on Oregon.
