Donald Trump received 1,252,401 (48%)  votes beating Hillary Clinton who gained 1,161,167 (45%) by a margin of 91,234 votes in Arizona.

Out of the 15 counties in Arizona, Trump won 11 whiles Clinton won 4.

In the primary, Sanders won a county in a 3 way match up. However, on a head to head match up between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, he won 8 counties. On a head to head count with the total votes between in Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump between the primary and general, % vote shift difference is a 1% increase for Trump and a 1% decrease for Clinton, but the votes difference is a 1,375,834 votes for Trump and a 310,542 votes for Clinton.

During the 2016 General elections, over 146,434,269 total number of votes were cast.  Hillary Clinton got 65,849,971 (65.8 Million) over Donald Trump's 62,984,405 (62.9 Million). She won the popular vote by 2,865,566 (2.8 Million). Even though she lost to Trump in Arizona, her 1,161,167 votes gained represents 1.7% of her popular vote victory. These 15 counties play an important role in these primary elections. If a candidate, can get a sizable majority (like Donald Trump) in the biggest county (Maricopa - 3 times the size of the 2nd biggest county (Pima) by vote count), it becomes very difficult to win majorities in the smaller counties without voter out reach and increased voter participation in them.

Maricopa which is the biggest county saw Trump winning with a margin of over 44,454 votes. With the exception of Pima, Coconino, Apache and Santa Cruz, the remaining counties voted for Trump. Margins of Donald Trump’s win in these counties ranges between 800 to 44,000 votes. These margins no doubt contributed to a win in the State of Arizona for Trump.
